Welcome to Whiting Indiana
Fall is here and Whiting's community comes alive with beautiful autumn tree lined streets, stacks of leaves for kids to play in and wonderful events happening in the downtown. The calendar is FULL with event after event including the last monthly Cruise Night, Oktoberfest and the NEW Haunted Hayrides along the Spooky Lakefront.
Check out the calendar of events for all the events because MOST of them are free of charge and a great way to spend your day.
The downtown is filled with small independently owned shops that you just can't find any place else, fantastic eateries and Oil City Stadium (you just may catch a game while you're in town).
The beach is right at the end of the historic district on beautiful Lake Michigan. The lakefront drive has been under construction but we are hoping it's open and able to drive thru by the end of November.
All year long, Whiting offers a variety of activities from dining and shopping to special events like the annual Pierogi Fest which has been featured on Oprah.com and the Food Network. If you’re a history lover, check out the gorgeous Carnegie Building which houses the Whiting Library or the Community Center given as a gift to Whiting by John D. Rockefeller. And don’t forget to catch a movie while in town. The Hoosier Theatre resides downtown and is the only remaining “movie palace” in Northwest Indiana built in 1924 and it’s interior is a “must see!”
So why not make Whiting, Indiana your next getaway or even better, your new home!
