Welcome to Whiting Indiana

Winter is visiting Whiting again this year but we've been lucky so far with this gorgeous weather. The gusty winds have even kept our surfers at Lake Michigan in their full wet suits, riding the waves crashing to the shore.  New restaurants are opening and people are buzzing around town visiting our quaint shops...kickin' off the year with great sales.

When you come into town you'll drive right through Whiting's historic business district which features restaurants, antiques shops and quaint “mom and pop” stores all sitting among tree lined streets surrounded by single family homes with large porches where families sit and say “hello” as you walk by.

Whiting offers a variety of activities from dining and shopping to special events like the annual Pierogi Fest which has been featured on Oprah.com and the Food Network. If you’re a history lover, check out the gorgeous Carnegie Building which houses the Whiting Library or the Community Center given as a gift to Whiting by John D. Rockefeller. And don’t forget to catch a movie while in town. The Hoosier Theatre resides downtown and is the only remaining “movie palace” in Northwest Indiana built in 1924 and it’s interior is a “must see!”

New this Fall/Winter is Bulldog Brewery - not only a great stop for food but they brew their own beer as well as have a large collection of other microbrews.  Check 'em out at http://bulldogbrewingco.com

So why not make Whiting, Indiana your next getaway or even better, your new home!
